My kids and I love this story, a Caribbean version of the classic Cinderella tale. For most readers of this book, the story represents a culture different from their own. The story follows the traditional lines, but always includes its own piquant touches.

It’s another wonderful version of the story. I could not use the wand. The story even touches on social classes throughout the Caribbean which is very important. For this story I would use the book as a reference tool for teaching about different cultures. According to author Robert San Souci, it is “loosely based” on the Cindereola version. The glossary in the back explains anything that one couldn’t gather via context. The bright colors used bring this story to life, as they are very colorful, detailed, and show emotion.

This a Caribbean Cinderella story with a lot of French-Creole words in the glossary. This book is great if you want more culturally diverse literature at home or in your classroom. Cendrillon was so happy. The illustrations in the book cnedrillon very accurate especially when illustrating the architecture of many of the islands who were colonized by the French or were heavily influenced by the French culture.
